Smiling Faces International (SFI)

Smiling Faces International (SFI), is a nonprofit organization based in Liberia whose mission is to “develop servant leaders and build the confidence of emerging leaders through creative forms of expression, storytelling, and leadership training rooted in community-based innovation and cultural understanding.” In May 2023, the organization received its first grant from Kaul2Action to implement The Academy of Young Leaders (AYL) in the creative arts, to run from May 2023 to April 2024.
The one-year grant and support from Kaul2Action Foundation empowered Smiling Faces International to launch Liberia’s first post-war youth-focused servant leadership training and mentoring program. The mutual partnership between SFI and K2A, has opened great doors to spread the love of God and impact young Christian leaders in the creative arts within the West African nation.

The AYL project is designed to consciously raise fifteen (15) students from five (5) partner high schools into Christ-like young leaders. AYL uses a unique C.H.R.I.S.T Framework: Leadership Development Training Model that is focused on training and equipping high school students gifted in the creative arts (music, public speaking, storytelling and spoken word poetry) with knowledge, skills, and Christ-like servant leadership attributes to influence the creative arts industry, their communities, and the nation. This framework forms the core values of the Academy and its operations. Young leaders who complete a full cycle of the Academy are inspired to establish Young Leaders Clubs (YLC) in high schools across Liberia.
